Doors: 19:00
Showtime: 20:00

Robin suunniteltu esiintyminen Helsingin G Livelabissa siirtyy vuodelle 2021. Mahdollista keikkapäivää keskustellaan tällä hetkellä.

Ghanalaisen funkin "kummisetä", laulaja Robert Roy Reindorf (s. 1947) ihaili nuoruudessaan yhdysvaltalaisia soul-suuruuksia. James Brownista ja Otis Reddingistä inpiroituneen ja Cotonoussa pianonsoittoa opiskelleen Robin kosmista afrobeat-musiikkia julkaistiin 70-luvulla legendaarisen Essiebons-levymerkin toimesta, ja alun perin pieninä painoksina ilmestyneet julkaisut ovat nousseet ajan saatossa varsinaisiksi keräilyharvinaisuuksiksi. Viime vuosina Rob on tullut musadiggareille tutuksi mm. Analog African, Mr Bongon ja Soundway Recordsin uusintajulkaisujen kautta. Funky Rob Way (1977) ja Make It Fast, Make It Slow (1978) -levyjen tarttuvia funk-breikkejä on myös sämplätty mm. J Dillan toimesta. Tulevana kesänä Rob vierailee G Livelab Helsingissä harvinaisen live-esiintymisen merkeissä.

Rob's G Livelab Helsinki concert will be postponed until 2021. We are talking a new date for Rob at the moment.
Singer Robert Roy Raindorf (born 1949 in Accra, Ghana) is undoubtedly one of the most enigmatic figures of West-Africa's 1970s music scene. At an early stage of his career, Rob was influenced by American soul heavyweights like James Brown and Otis Redding. After two albums "Funky Rob Way" (1977) and "Make It Fast, Make It Slow" (1978 ) on the legendary Essiebons imprint Rob vanished into showbiz obscurity until years later his music was discovered again. Rob's stand out track "Make It Fast, Make it Slow" was sampled by characters like J Dilla and Camp Lo and has ever since been a hit on the dancefloors worldwide. In June, Rob visits G Livelab Helsinki with his band to put on a cosmic Ghanian-funk show like no other.
