Palestinian artist Jowan Safadi's music is a potent mix of fast upbeat contemporary rock and clear Arabic influences. Jowan made headlines recently and reached Israeli, Palestinian and international media with his song “To Be an Arab”, on which he sings in Hebrew for the first time. In 2013 Jowan’s tour in Jordan was interrupted by his detention by Jordanian police, accusing him of singing blasphemy and insulting religion. Now he returns to Finland after a residency in Finland during the spring of 2016.
